Tantalize Your Taste Buds with the NEW Smokehouse Brisket Sandwich at Arby’s

Living in the smallish town that we do, we don’t have as many restaurant choices as we had when we lived in the city. There are so many places that I miss eating at and Arby’s just so happens to be among those at the top of that list. ?Last time we went to the city, we decided that Arby’s would be our stop for lunch. They have this new Smokehouse Brisket Sandwich that my husband was just dying to try.

Then they load the sandwich with their slow roasted beef and top it with Gouda cheese, crisped onions, BBQ sauce and mayo – all served on a deliciously toasted bun. He said it was amazing, great – absolutely delicious {among other words that I can’t publish} and it’s now his top choice on their entire menu. That says an awful lot coming from a guy who usually orders something new every time we go to a restaurant! Serve it up with some of Arby’s famous curly fries with a cup of cheddar cheese or their Mozzarella Sticks and you’ve got an instant tasty and filling lunch or dinner.

How to Revamp Your Old Cork Board

I had this horrible open space in my kitchen, and I had no clue what to hang there. So of course I searched ol’ faithful Pinterest, and found some wonderful ideas on how to revamp your old cork board!

I really love the simplicity in this cute idea… BUT … I could not for the life of me get my pins straight so this project was quickly thrown out the window.

So I decided to use a little creativity of my own! I knew I had some burlap laying around… so here is my version of a DIY-Photo Board:

Revamp Your Old Cork Board

Before I glued my material to my cork board, I ironed it first. Then took some spray adhesive and sprayed the cork and smoothed my fabric on top of it. Pretty simple…right!?!

I love this material! I found it at Jo-Ann Fabrics for $1.99 yd. Score!

Then you can get the trusty ol’ glue gun out and start wrapping your corners and gluing to the back of the cork board.

One of your final steps is to cut the burlap in 3 inch strips, and start gluing and wrapping, gluing and wrapping. This was probably the most time consuming because of the cutting and gluing of the burlap.

I added this bow, which I think adds the finishing touches! Burlap is pretty easy to work with, just a little messy. If you want to avoid the mess, you can first wash it, then iron it. (Just expect a mess in your dryer:))

Spookily Easy Mummy Cupcake Recipe

I love Halloween. So does Sonshine. I’ve been all over Pinterest, but a lot of yummy recipes looked time consuming, over done, and in a house of just three (and mom on a diet!), some stuff seemed like too much sugar. So, I decided to pick a Halloween monster that always seems to get overlooked and on that would make a quick treat!

Yes. I really, really cheated with this homemade recipe. But, you can make your own batter and frosting if you’d like. I was going to get crazy with a yummy vegan cupcake recipe along with an easy vanilla frosting, but, Sonshine spotted the Halloween Funfetti Cake Mix at the store and, well, have you seen those big blue eyes? So… Buy a cupcake mix, vanilla frosting, and some chocolate chips (or just use M&Ms). Make your cupcakes according to the box. I went for just egg whites and I substituted milk instead of oil, just FYI. Let them cool.

Put your frosting in a big bowl and whip it for a few minutes. You’ll get double the frosting this way as it’s infused with air. Next, lightly ice your cupcakes. This doesn’t have to look pretty. Just make sure the top of the cupcake is covered. Then put the remainder of your frosting in an icing bag or make your own by using a Ziploc bag and snipping the end (like in the picture).

Use the chocolate chips as eyes. Stick two into the cupcakes, next to each other. Now take your baggie of frosting and zig-zag across the cupcakes. Make sure you don’t cover the eyes, just encompass them. Once you reach the end, zig-zag the other way for an even coverage.

Color any remainder frosting, we used green, but red makes them even spookier, and lightly dot the chocolate chips. Instant eyes!

Just a note: Let the cupcakes cool all the way or the chips will melt. Not so spooky then!
