Domestic Violence is a sore subject for many people and isn’t talked about much, but that doesn’t change the fact that it does exist. In fact domestic violence affects one in four women in their lifetime. It could be affecting a neighbor, sister or friend right this moment. Statistics show that domestic violence happens 145 times every single hour – and that’s just in the US! 3 women die every day as a result, on average. Now that is a scary fact!
Unfortunately some women think they have to stay or just don’t have the resources to leave an abusive relationship. That’s why I’m here to help spread awareness about Domestic Violence and share the “Purple Purse” in partnership with The Allstate Foundation.
Throughout the whole month of October, I’ll be passing the Purple Purse along to my family,friends and neighbors to help inform them. I will also be sharing a virtual Purple Purse and for every time that either of the purses is shared and registered on PurplePurse.com, The Allstate Foundation will donate $5 to the YWCA, up to $350,000! I would just love to see these purses shared as much as possible to reach that goal!
The YWCA is the number one provide of resources and comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and their children. The Allstate Foundation has been a long time partner in their success!
