The proteins and fats present in milk powder helps to moisturize and hydrate the skin. Lactic acid present in milk is a chemical exfoliant that gets rid of dead cells from the skin. Soaking in milk powder cleanses your skin and can leave you with glowing skin. However, make sure to rinse yourself with clean water after the bath.
Fizzing is an important and fun aspect of the milk bath bombs. Citric acid is a weak acid while baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is a weak base. When placed in water, the two ingredients react to produce carbon dioxide which causes the fizzing. The presence of dissolved carbon dioxide in the bath water is beneficial to the skin as it enhances the skin’s elasticity and dismantles fatty deposits that may be present in skin pores.
If your milk bath bombs are overly dry, they will crack or break apart upon removing them from the molds. In case you experience this, add a little more of your wet ingredients. On the other hand, if they are too wet, they tend to expand while in the mold. Additionally, wet milk bombs will not fizz properly. The good news is that I have verified the procedure below, so following this recipe will result in perfect milk bath bombs.
