Today I’m going to show you how to make Red Wine Sangria with just a few ingredients and some delicious fruit. All you need is red wine, Sprite, oranges, lemons, limes, raspberries, and strawberries to make this summer cocktail. You may opt to peel the orange, lemon, and lime but I left the rinds on these citrus fruits.
What red wine is good for sangria?
There are many red wine options that are good for this beverage. Today I’m featuring my favorite option, a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon red wine for this sangria. Other red wines that work for sangria include Garnacha or Pinot Noir red wine.
How long should sangria sit?
If you plan to make sangria to serve immediately, then you should allow the sangria to sit for about 15 minutes in the pitcher. This will allow the ingredients to meld together for a fabulous flavor burst with each sip. If you want to let your sangria sit longer, then you can chill your sangria in the fridge for at least one hour prior to serving.
Do you eat the fruit in Sangria?
Yes, you can eat the fruit in sangria. As you’ll see below in my red wine sangria recipe, the fruit is included in the glass and is perfectly fine to eat. While the red wine won’t destroy the nutrients in the raspberries, strawberries, lemon, lime, and orange in your sangria, the alcohol content will adjust how your body absorbs the nutrients in the fruit.
Can you drink sangria with ice?
Yes, you can drink sangria with ice. You’ll see that ice is one of the listed ingredients for my sangria recipe. Ice will help keep your sangria chill for longer hours when you’re serving this sangria at a social gathering.
How to Make Red Wine Sangria
The key to a good sangria is the addition of fruit, and you will find this delicious sangria recipe loaded with 5 different types of fruit. Of course, eating of the fruit is highly encouraged, because it tastes amazing! And the best part is, the longer you let the sangria chill, the more wine that gets absorbed into the fruit. I guess then you could call it drunken fruit!
