This is a partnered post with Nakturnal, though all opinions are my own.
I don’t know about you, but sometimes I leave the doctor’s office and forget what they said. I can remember some of the details, but more often than not, I can’t recall the doctor’s exact instructions or advice they lent during my visit. Not remembering what the doctor said during a visit can be rather frustrating. It’s important to know your health history so that you can take proper care of your physical and mental health. Today I’m going to share some simple ways to organize info from your doctor’s appointments so that you can share with family members, other caregivers, or use it to be proactive with your health.
Simple Ways to Organize Info from Doctor’s Appointments
Use a Notepad
You can purchase a journal and use it as a place to jot down important information about doctor’s appointments or questions for future visits. We all tend to forget those important questions or symptoms once we walk into our doctor’s appointment.
Keeping a notepad or journal with a pen attached is an excellent way to organize any questions you may have or symptoms you’ve been experiencing to discuss with your doctor.
Bring a Family Member
If you have a caregiver or family member who’s a huge part of your life, then you could have them go with you to the doctors. Having a second person at your doctor’s appointment will give you a higher chance of remembering all that your doctor said during the visit.
Consider using a spouse, caregiver, or close friend as your health history person. This will help you stay safe when an emergency strikes because you’ll have one person listed to contact for health history.
Download an App
I’m excited to learn about an app that lets you organize information from your doctor’s appointments with ease. The Abridge app lets you record your healthcare appointments with a simple click of a button. This means you can easily have the voice conversation stored on your phone in the Abridge app to access later.
Being able to have an app that you can download and record your conversation with your doctor during a doctor’s appointment alleviates the risk of forgetting important information. Within the Abridge app, you can easily search a specific phrase and have all of the important details show up because this app has the technology to highlight the medical terms found in your recording.
Not only is this an excellent option to start organizing info from your doctor’s appointments, but it helps you have quick access to share with family, friends or a caregiver regardless of whether they were there with you or not. It’s important that you have your health history available in the palm of your hands so that you can get help quickly and accurately if an emergency occurs.
