I love going to football games and representing our high school. Another way we can show our support to our team is by showing our colors. I’ve been making door hangers for our football players and cheerleaders so that when someone comes to their house they know that they either play football or cheer for North Augusta (NA).
Materials:
- Acrylic Paint- your teams colors
- Paintbrushes
- Water Jar
- Jig Saw
- 1/4′ Plywood
- Wire for hanging
- Drill (bit depends on size of wire)
- Pencil
- Paint pens for details
- Wire Ribbon
Step 1:
First you will need 1/4′ plywood. The size depends on how many you plan to make. I guarantee that you will want to make more than one! My megaphone is approximately 15″ x 20″. The megaphone shape is fairly easy to draw a pattern for it uses straight lines. Draw your megaphone shape on your plywood in pencil and cut it out using your jig saw. Before you begin painting drill two holes at the top of your megaphone about two inches apart. Make sure to hold it to see how you want it to hang. Basically hold it between two fingers and see if it hangs straight or diagonally the way you want it to hang on your door before your drill your holes.
Step 2:
Paint your megaphone first. You may want to paint it a couple of times because wood tends to absorb paint. Then once it dries you can draw and paint your team letters or child’s name. I also painted the inside of the megaphone.
Step 3:
Once your paint dries I recommend drawing/tracing out the dots and paint them.
Step 4:
Then when your paint has dried go back and add your accents using the paint pens. This gives your door hanger a little something extra and add a bow too.
Would you hand this Cheer Door Hanger on your door if you had a cheerleader?
