In all of my years of blogging, I have avoided controversial subjects on this blog like the plague. I don't like drama and never wanted to have to deal with it in this part of my life. But it's time for my voice to be heard on this subject and I know I'm going to get crazy hate just for writing this article. But you know what That's ok because some things just need to be said.
I'm not going to write this article from a racial standpoint because there isn't a need for that. This has nothing to do with race. I'm writing this from a human standpoint, my point of view. You can agree with me, disagree with me or whatever you want. As humans, as Americans we all have the right to think what we want and to think for ourselves. So to prepare for that difference in opinion, which I'm sure there will be, comments will be closed on this post.
The Riots Need to Stop
I'm neither judge nor jury so I won't even reflect on who's wrong or who's right. But destroying entire cities proves nothing and if you ask me, it only makes matters worse! Look at Ferguson last year. How did any of those violent riots help anything It didn't. Instead, people were too afraid to even leave their homes, schools had to close to ensure the safety of the children and part of the city was pretty much destroyed. They're still trying to pick up the pieces.
Now riots are starting in Baltimore. If we don't do or say anything and just turn a blind eye, the same is going to happen there. It's already happening. A curfew has been put into affect to keep people safe. Baltimore public schools are closed today. The city is being destroyed.
There are ways to peacefully protest and this isn't one of them.
I get that people are upset, rightfully so. But there are better ways to get the point across. Protest. I'm fine with that. But do it peacefully. Don't allow the violence to overtake the cause.
I know it's easier said than done and maybe my way of thinking is naive. I've always been told that I belonged in a different time. But I just don't understand why there has got to be so much hate in this world. Each of us are all in this life together and if only we could just find a way love each other, not only in America but across the globe, we might just stand a better chance at this thing called life.
