Materials:
- Shoes new/old ( I prefer canvas)
- Acrylic paint (with fabric medium)/fabric paint
- Paint Brushes a variety of sizes round and flat
- Mod Podge
I washed my used shoes to make sure that all the dirt and grim was gone.
Step 2: Creating the Design
So my first thought was what does my niece like? Well naturally she loves Peace, Love and Happiness/Flower Power. I wanted to use all her favorite colors as well (pink, purple and yellow). I wanted my design on my right shoe to mirror my left shoe.
Step 3:
I free-handed my checkered board pattern, and lightly drew my toe pattern. Then I painted my design.
Step 4:
I wanted to jazz up my Custom Kicks by adding glitter. I raided my daughters nail glitter to add to my heart, flower and toe. The purple I used was a glitter paint. I did not use a fabric medium with my acrylic paint, but instead used Mod Podge to seal my paint. I painted a very heavy coating to my toe where I used all the glitter. I usually use what I have on hand instead of making a trip to the store.
