I love to decorate my home. Even more than that, I love to find frugal ways to do so! I didn’t have a night stand for my room, so I had been using this old table with a drawer that I used to have in our old bathroom many years ago. It was worn and tattered, with butterfly stickers all over – definitely time to toss or re-furbish. I chose the latter and am just so happy with the result!
- an old table
- sandpaper
- paint in your choice of color(s)
- paint brush
- paint roller
- FrogTape? Multi Surface
Step 1: Prep the area by sanding. I had to sand more where the stickers were to get all the stickiness off.
Step 3: Paint the entire table with the main color that you want to use.
Step 4: Use the FrogTape? to cover the drawer in an “x”.
Step 5: Apply paint in a second color to your large “x”.
Step 6: Remove FrogTape?, let paint dry. Then repeat steps 4 and 5 to do another “x” on the opposite side so that both of the “x’s” are the same size.
Step 7: For the table top, use FrogTape? around all sides/edges, then create a big “x” in the middle.
Step 8: Paint the “x”, remove FrogTape? and repeat step 7 on the opposite side of the table top.
Step 9: Paint the hardware if desired, then put back on once paint is dry. Voila, you’re done! Now sit back and enjoy the beautiful piece of up-cycled furniture that you created!
Once your table is completely dry, you can move it into the desired space in your home. I put my table next to my bed and added a topiary and one of our wedding photos. I need to find a cute little lamp in place of the topiary, then move that to the bottom shelf.
