Lately it has been a battle to get Nugget to brush his teeth. Morning time brushing is especially hard; he just wants to play and tells me no to brushing his teeth. I remember the days when it was so easy to get his teeth brushed. I’ve tried letting him help me brush my teeth and even offering him cool new toothbrushes, but none of that worked either. This past week we got a StarSmilez dental puppet for him to try and getting him to brush his teeth is now so much easier.
Benefits of StarSmilez:– Allows parents to teach and re-teach brushing habits on a regular basis. (Because, let’s face it ? kids need reminders. When was the last time a child did something when first asked?)
– Kids can learn by watching a parent demonstrate, practicing on the puppet, and then brushing their own teeth.
– Many professionals recommend at least using an anatomical model to demonstrate, but kids relate better to StarSmilez puppets.
– Makes brushing their teeth more fun (which means no more arguing when getting ready for bed!)
We got the Al E. Gator since we love gators in our house. This puppet is incredibly well made and very soft. I really liked the oversized toothbrush it came with because it made it much easier for Nugget to use it. This is a perfect demonstration tool for children to learn about brushing their teeth.
StarSmilez makes these puppets in the large size (like I have) or a smaller personal size. There are 5 different animal friends that come in the large size and and 10 different ones in the personal sized puppets. They even make puppets with braces which would be a great tool for a child getting braces to learn how to brush with them.
Nugget really enjoys brushing Al E. Gator’s teeth. Now every morning and before bedtime, we brush Al’s teeth first and then Nugget brushes his teeth. I love that I no longer have to fight with him to brush his teeth. Now he sees brushing teeth as something that can be fun instead of only as something that he has to do.
