Cooking is my passion. Growing up on our family farm, I developed a deep connection with the joy that great food inspires. When I began cooking for my own family, my veggie patties not only delighted my children but also surprised my friends with their amazing taste and texture. Creating delicious recipes with the most nutritious ingredients became my mission and is the foundation for everything we make today at Chez Marie. Thank you for sharing them on your kitchen table, and please enjoy those special moments created by bringing family and friends together.
I was a vegetarian for a very long time before my son was born. Although I eat some meat now, I still love adding vegetarian and vegan meals into our diets every now and again. After a few days of cleaner eating, I start to feel great and toy with the idea of dropping meat all from my diet again. My husband has comes to terms with these fleeting desires, but the truth is, vegetarian eating just feels good to me!
The problem is, I have a new found appreciation for burgers. I know there are a few varieties of vegan/veggie burgers out there, but, they just aren’t appealing, They’re squishy, they break apart during cooking, and the ingredient list is a mile long and just filled with natural butter flavoring, autolyzed yeast extract, Turmeric color, enzyme cultures, and tons of cheeses. Yikes! Chez Marie is different. Their ingredient list reads more like a recipe. Nothing is hidden. Not only can it be boasted that Chez Marie is Gluten-Free, Soy-Free, Corn-Free, and Preservative-Free, but all products are Non-GMO Project Verified! Plus, there is 5-9 grams of protein per 2.5 oz. patty.
With five amazing flavors, Hearty Hemp Seed, Spicy Bean, Whole Harvest, Marie’s Homestyle, and Wow Mushroom (the first three flavors are pure vegan), you’ll be sure to find the taste suited towards your family. My husband loved the Spicy Bean with a kick of jalapeno. I was partial to Marie’s Homestyle which had a great nutty flavor thanks to the pecans. Unfortunately, the three and a half year old wasn’t taken with anything, the texture, although soft like a beef burger, had too much going on for him. He was very interested in the Whole Harvest since it has pumpkin seeds, pumpkin, and Organic maple syrup in it, but, he ended up passing. I thought it had a very rich, complex flavoring that mingled well together and ate it sans bun, noodles, or toppings! When we were finished trying out all the flavors, we threw the sustainable packaging into the recycling bin, since they’re #2 recyclable and biodegradable in a biologically active landfill. Pretty cool, huh?
On a hectic night, I threw together a Veggie Parmesan in less than twenty minutes using Marie’s Homestyle flavor. You’ll need your favorite Chez Marie patties, tomato sauce, and parmesan cheese. That’s it!
- Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees and brush both sides of your patties with oil
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until crispy
- Carefully bring the tray out and put two tablespoons of sauce on each patty
- Cover with cheese
- Put back in oven under broiler and keep an eye on the cheese, pull out when golden
How good does that look? It was crispy and everything a Veggie Parmesan should be! My husband ate two before I even finished cutting up my son’s plate and settled into my own! This is definitely a recipe going into our Meatless Monday cookbook section!
Chez Marie is one of the best veggie patty options around. I’ll be keeping an eye out for them in my local super market and restocking my freezer soon!
