I like to cook but I am not that great at it. Husband is the chef in our family. That means when I do cook it needs to be something simple and with directions right on the package that I can understand so I can still make a tasty meal for my family without confusing me. I am also a mom to a toddler and preschooler that are constantly pulling at me so I need things that don’t take a huge amount of cook and prep time.
Shirley J is one of those companies that must cater to people like me because the items I was sent I was able to cook with no problems at all and best of all everything came out yummy and my 2 daughters approved!
On the weekends my family likes a big homemade breakfast since that is when we actually have time as a family to sit down and enjoy it together. First up we tried the whole grain pancake and waffle mix. We made pancakes per Big Sis’s request. Literally all I had to do was add water, mix and then poor into the pan.
Of course my pancakes didn’t turn out perfectly shaped but they were fluffy and tasty. This was an easy way to serve my family whole grains and they not even know the difference! Please note that each serving makes a TON of pancakes. Please cook accordingly as 1 serving is perfect for a pack of wild teenage boys to enjoy.
The next morning I attempted some of their cooked warm cereal.

Ingredients: Oats, barley flakes, cranberries, rye flakes, organic

cinnamon, sesame seeds and sea salt.
These are not sweet and you will need to add in your own sweetner. We added good old honey from our local farmer’s market and it was just the sweetness it needed.

I also got to try the buttermilk pancake and waffle mix. This time we made some waffles, which are one of my person faves. They were my favorite thing I got to review and they were so good with some butter and syrup.
When it comes to dinner time I like using my crock pot. I can put all the ingredients in the crock pot in the morning and come 6pm dinner is ready. I will admit that I normally stick to the same old recipes so I was super excited to try some of Shirley J’s slow cooker seasonings. I just mix the seasoning in with water and then pour onto my meat. Seriously it is that easy to now make a gravy.
I tried the beef for my first go around because we love beef in our crock pot since it makes it so tender.
Using this seasoning was not only easy but added some flavor to our meals instead of me always using just water. It did not make a thick gravy but for me it was more of a savory gravy for the meat to cook in all day to help keep the meat juicy and flavorful.
Using these tasty cooking ingredients from Shirley J helped me to make some great tasting meals for my family. Cooking really comes hard to me and I had no problem at all using their products to make our meals.
