Keeping yourself and your family safe from the sun’s damaging rays is very important. You douse them in sunscreen when they’re at the beach, the park and probably even your very own backyard. You might even apply sunscreen before they get on the school bus in the morning. But did you know that it should be reapplied by mid-day?
Sunscreen usage policies vary state to state and even within different districts. That’s why Coppertone just launched the Making the Sunscreen Grade program. The program was designed to empower and educate all of us parents by providing useful tools and information on how to protect our children from the sun. Their goal is to unable us to start conversations about the importance of sun protection with our schools.
Below are a few tips from Coppertone:
- Ask your school administrator for more information on your district’s policy around sunscreen and what (if any) sun protection methods are permitted. Policies can differ, so you may want to ask if sunscreen, hats or sunglasses are allowed during outdoor activities and if any permission is necessary.
- Any child who plays sports is inevitably going to spend a lot of time in the sun. But you can minimize your child’s sun exposure to UV rays by asking coaches to provide shade for sidelined players and check that water is readily available to prevent dehydration.
- Sun sense begins at home. Dress your kids in sun-protective clothing and make sunscreen application part of your morning ritual before your kids go outside and go to school.
To keep my family safe from the harmful rays of the sun this summer, Coppertone armed me with an assortment of sunscreen. There are many different varieties available, something to surely fit everyone’s needs.
My husband likes to use the Coppertone Sport while he’s at work since he sits on a roof sweating all day. He definitely needs protection way up there, closer to the sun. The Sport formula “Stays on Strong when you Sweat” so you won’t lose the protection. It won’t run into your eyes either. Of all the sunscreens he’s used over the years, this is the one he likes most while he’s working.
I like the Wet’n Clear because I don’t like to be full of white stuff after I apply sunscreen. I’d rather it be clear and unnoticeable. I’ll admit though that I don’t often use sunscreen on my face because I worry about break-outs. I was excited to try Coppertone’s Oil Free Faces Sunscreen Lotion that won’t cause breakouts. I’m happy to say that after several uses I am still blemish free!
