Step into Summer – Perry Ellis Patchwork Short Review

“Perry Ellis (1940-1986) brought a new look to American sportswear. One of America’s most popular designers of the 1980s, Ellis made clothes that were relaxed and unpretentious, yet also sophisticated and timeless. Perry Ellis sent a pair of the Patchwork Short for the Man to review. These shorts are 100% cotton and so nice and thin. They’re really airy and allow room to breathe in the summertime. I think they really look great on him too.

He thinks they’re very comfortable and actually wants more shorts like these. He actually wore them out on the boat a couple of weekends ago. It was a super hot day and he said he’s glad he wore those ones instead of a different pair. They kept him cooler than regular jean shorts and didn’t feel sticky on him.

They’re a bit longer than most shorts I see in this style too. That’s really great, because a lot of guys these days {including mine} don’t really like to show a lot of leg.

Perry Ellis offers quite a bit more than just men’s wear though. They have swimsuits for women as well as fragrances for him and her.

Step into Summer – Banzai Color Stream Gatlin Blaster Review & Giveaway {CLOSED}

We LOVE the outdoors. We have so much fun in the sun in the summer months, even if it’s just playing in the backyard. Who can blame us really though. We do live in a pretty cold state! We’re lucky to get 3 full months of hot weather.

My kids love water guns and were so excited when they opened up the box that contained the Banzai Color Stream Gatlin Blaster . They immediately started playing with it and had such a blast soaking each other with the color stream! They’ve already used up both of the cartridges, so we’re going to have to grab some more for sure!

Here’s a shot of Big Bro playing with the Banzai Color Stream Gatlin Blaster. I don’t know what’s up with the face, I think the sun may be in his eyes lol!

The Banzai Color Stream Gatlin Blaster shoots water pretty far which is totally awesome for water fights. I get them every time! The color in the cartridges washes off easily too, so there’s no need to worry about stains.

Boys will be boys and for most of them that means playing with guns. Water guns, foam guns, cap guns, you name it! My boys are no exception to this. If all their guns were real, we’d be stocked!

Step into Summer – Wish-Bone Gift Bag Full of Salad Goodies Review & Giveaway {CLOSED}

I have always liked salads. They’re good for you and a perfect snack for the summertime {or anytime for that matter}. Unfortunately for me {and my health} I probably don’t eat as much of it as I should. That’s all going to change though. I have made a pact with myself to eat better, to eat healthier. I will be doing away with all the things I used to eat and I will try my best to include a vegetable and salad with every meal.

Now some of you hear salad and you probably think boring old lettuce and dressing. Well, there are so many more ways to eat salad than you can probably imagine. Just the salad dressing varieties along are almost endless.

The Wish-Bone website offers a huge variety of different salad recipes for every taste bud out there. The Chopped Fiesta Garden Salad caught my eye and I’d love to share it with you. It looks delicious!

Chopped Fiesta Garden Salad

Makes: 5 (1-cup) servings

Preparation Time: 10 Minute(s)

Ingredients

7 cups torn romaine lettuce leaves
1 medium red or green bell pepper, chopped
1 can (15 oz.) whole kernel corn, drained
1 can (15.5 oz.) black beans, rinsed and drained
2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese (about 8 oz.)
2 green onions, thinly sliced
3/4 cup Wish-Bone? Ranch Dressing

Combine all ingredients except Wish-Bone? Ranch Dressing in large serving bowl. Just before serving, drizzle with Dressing. Garnish, if desired, with tortilla chips.

The wonderful people at Wish-Bone sent me a gift bag full of salad goodies including a Tyler Florence signed cookbook, salad tongs, a salad container, an apron and a couple bottles of Wish-Bone salad dressing. I have to say I truely adore my little kit, especially the salad tongs. Can you believe I have never owned a set? Crazy, right? The cookbook has some wonderful recipes in it too! I used the Wish-Bone Italian Dressing in my signature pasta salad and it turned out divine!

Here is an interesting fact: According to Wish-Bone, the oils like those in Wish-Bone salad dressings help your body better absorb vitamins A & E, versus a salad without dressing. Good to know!

Step into Summer – Fashion Playtes $25 Gift Certificate Giveaway {CLOSED}

“As a young girl I designed most of my clothing and was fortunate to have a very talented mother who could sew. She indulged me and made wonderful custom outfits for my first days of school, dances and special events. On occasion, we?d stay up almost all night selecting embellishments and making the outfit ?just right?. I recall the pride and satisfaction of creating something that was exclusively mine. I now have a 7 year old daughter who is designing clothing and asking me to make it for her. You can create totally customizable clothing for girls at Fashion Playtes. This site is so cool, I just couldn’t resist messing around and designing my own shirt {shown above}. It was so easy and really fun to do. There are all different steps and you get to choose your own things through each one. If I had a daughter, we’d be shopping this place all the time!

Here’s some finished designs worn by their models. Aren;t they super cool?? I think every girl’s dream is to be able to design their own clothes. This is such a neat idea!
