I absolutely adore Disney and that definitely includes all their movies. I have no idea how it happened but I somehow missed the film Spirited Away when it was originally released in 2001 but I blame it on the fact I was in college during that time. Spirited Away is a Japanese animated fantasy-adventure film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli and released in an English speaking version with Disney.
From Hayao Miyazaki, one of the most celebrated filmmakers in the history of animated cinema, comes the Oscar?-winning triumph (2002, Best Animated Feature Film), filled with astonishing beauty and epic adventure, a dazzling masterpiece for the ages. ?Spirited Away? is a wondrous fantasy about a young girl, Chihiro, trapped in a strange new world of spirits. When her parents undergo a mysterious transformation, she must call on the courage she never knew she had to free herself and return her family to the outside world. An unforgettable story, brimming with creativity, ?Spirited Away? will take you on a journey beyond your imagination.
Ten-year old Chihiro and her parents are moving when her father takes a wrong turn and they find themselves in what they think is an abandoned amusement park. They come across a ton of fresh food but no one is around and both her parents start eating it. To her horror they turn into giant pigs! Out of no where a boy appears and tells her she must get back across the river before dark but she is too late and finds herself in a strange world with strange spirits everywhere. The boy tells her that to survive she must get herself a job at the bathhouse and to listen to exactly what he says if she ever wants to save her parents and escape back to the human world. She must find courage that she never knew she had and along the way she makes some friends to help her out.

We have already watched it twice in just a few days and both times they were mesmerized by it and didn’t speak or get all fidgety like they often do during a movie. It is unlike any other movie we have ever seen before. Spirited Away is an absolutely fantastic tale the whole family will want to experience over and over again on Disney Blu-ray!
