Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day and my family will be celebrating, as we do every year. My father in law is a Vietnam Veteran and my children, husband and I like to honor him on this day that’s all about him and other U.S. Military Veterans who have risked their lives and fought for our freedom. Because remember, freedom isn’t free. Someone paid a price and they deserve to be honored not only on Veteran’s Day, but every day.
Sadly, there are many veterans who simply don’t live a wonderful life. Many have been forgotten about, are in poor health, have no family and/or are homeless. While there are programs that can help, many do not know that these resources are available to them or how to attain them.
But that’s why I’m here today, to share about Katy’s Goodness, whose motto is “Mixing Good Food with Good Causes”. Because every time you make a purchase of My OH Mega Cookies from Katy’s, they will make a donation to benefit military veterans and their families. These donations can help with disability, unemployment, job training, housing, healthcare, suicides and education.
They’ve launched a “Thank A Deserving Military Veteran” campaign this year and starting this Veteran’s Day, care packages will be arriving on the doorsteps of military veterans across the nation. Between tomorrow and Veteran’s Day of 2015, Katy’s Goodness has set a goal to deliver these care packages to 2 million veterans, which will allow them to donate more than 3 million dollars to organizations that support our military veterans.
These “Thank A Deserving Military Veteran” care packages can be purchased for $30 and contain 6 packages of My OH Mega Cookies, a thank you card and information to learn more about Katy’s Goodness’ partners. This is such a great cause and we were excited to share one of these care packages with our own veteran this year. My son and I made a little gift basket for my father in law and set one package of cookies out on a plate. Then we walked up to his bedroom and surprised him. The first thing he asked is “What’s this for” and when we told him, he took a bite and smiled big!
You can connect with Katy’s Goodness through their social media channels. You’ll find Katy’s Goodness on Facebook, @KatysGoodness on Twitter.
