We just got back from the doctor’s office a little bit ago after going for his 2 week check up. They did more x-rays and found that the bone had shifted a little bit. The doctor came in to look over it and took some measurements. His bone shifted by .7 degrees in just the 2 weeks since he’s had his cast on.
He said that they could cast it again, but he would probably be in a cast for months to try to make the bone grow back to normal. However, another break in the future would be highly probable because of where the break is and because he broke the same forearm 2 years ago.
He went on to talk about surgery and all the things that they could do to repair the bone. Because of how severe the bone is bent, he recommended that he go in and restructure the bone, put a rod through it and a plate to hold it all in place.
Honestly, I think that the doctor he saw 2 years ago when he broke his arm probably should have did surgery. The bending of the arm is actually from that break, not this one.
I feel so helpless and so sorry for Lil Man. His mind is just too young to take on all of this. He is a tough guy, really tough. He does not show fear to people, especially those he doesn’t know. He broke down and cried in the office and my heart just broke for him knowing that there’s nothing that I, his mother, can do to take that pain away.
Surgery is set for next week Tuesday and he will have the cast on for roughly 6-8 weeks after that. Wish us luck and please keep my Lil Man in your prayers.
