Living in the South means that for about three months of the year, my little guy lives in a bathing suit. And we get asked about going on a family picnic about three hundred times a week. It’s the best time of year for both and now is when I start to do my research on the best suits available for him to wear. They have to meet certain criteria from both mom and kid before they get added to the wardrobe. And with so many outdoor events that happen rain or shine (or the day after rain), we’re always on the lookout for the perfect blanket that will keep us dry while sitting on the ground!

It’s the most portable blanket we owned that easily and effortlessly folds back down into a tote that even the four year old can carry! The bottom is waterproof, we tested it on damp grass and nobody stood up with a wet bottom, and there is a peaches microfiber top with a comfort fill in between. We easily picnicked on this as a family of three with plenty of room for another couple of people! And if it’s windy, you can use the corner loops to stake the blanket down, no fly-aways here!

I love having nothing more than options when it comes to Sonshine and his clothing. We live a couple hours from the beach, so, we often hit local parks with all sort of fun water attractions, from splash pads, to sprinklers, to this awesome natural sandbox with a tiny waterfall. So, that means Sonshine wears a bathing suit quite a bit and I don’t always have the time or chance to wash or re-wash the same suit! Sonshine and I always agree on a two-piece suit for him, an outfit that speaks to his surfer boy soul and something that gives me peace of mind. These rash guards and shorts have UPF 50+ protection, so no worrying about sunburn! They’re also lightweight and so comfortable, I have to bribe him to take them off. His favorite is the Turtle design, short sleeve surfer-style rash guard with matching Sun Smartest Swim Trunks. The 4T even has a hygienic diaper inside, just in case you’re still potty training. The peached microfiber is soft and quick drying, so between sweating or playing in the water, you’re little one won’t be running around completely soaked! I’m torn between the long sleeved, longer back Nautical or Sharks swim outfit. Not only do the shorts have pockets, but, the longer sleeves offer even more sun protection.
Don’t worry those of you with little girls, One Step Ahead has you covered too. I wish I had a little one because how stinking adorable is this Ruffled Tankini Top and Ruffled Bottoms?
