For many people, sports are the most redeeming aspect of the winter months. Great competitive sports like football and ice hockey really begin to get ramped up during this season. Almost everyone has a big hill near their home that gets covered with fresh, fluffy powder in the winter and makes for a great sledding course. The best thing about this activity is that not only can you go as fast as you want, but you can also use just about anything in place of a proper sled. Pool tubes, baking sheets, garbage can lids, even the square laundry baskets can be used when you need to improvise.
Admittedly, ice fishing may not be for everyone but those that enjoy it will tell you that nothing compares. Winter is a time of complete stillness and tranquility in the great outdoors. While all of nature is sleeping the winter away, it’s a great time to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Ice fishing gives you the opportunity to get outdoors with your best friends and enjoy each other’s company without a care in the world.

For those that prefer to squirrel away during the frigid months, there are plenty of relaxing indoor hobbies that are always worth considering. Arts and crafts will satisfy your creative interests and give you a true sense of accomplishment.
