My own family got a pandemic puppy after putting off getting a dog for YEARS. Now we are proud to have added pandemic frogs to our family! The Froggy’s Lair BioSphere introduces African Dwarf Frogs to children who quickly discover how to nurture these aquatic creatures in an easy to manage one-gallon tank. Mine arrived through the mail in perfect condition with no problems at all. In addition to the two frogs, the “lair†comes with a live bamboo stalk, bioactive sand, colored gravel plus several decorative rocks so the tiny frogs to swim or play hide and seek.
Kids take in a science lesson every time they pass the BioSphere! They quickly discover that African Dwarf Frogs like companionship. They thrive in clean environments with a playmate they can interact with. Two frogs do not require any more care or a larger tank than a single frog.
Each Froggy’s Lair tank cleans and conditions itself with very little care. Together, all elements work in harmony to create a completely filter-free BioSphere habitat. The brown sand that is included in each purchase is actually bioactivated sand that manages the chemical levels in the water (the most important factor for keeping any aquarium clean and healthy). Then you have a choice of colors for the stones. The bamboo plant feeds off nutrients produced by the bioactive sand and in turn produces oxygen. The water will be a little bit cloudy the first few days but don’t worry as it clears up crystal clear in no time!
African Dwarf Frogs live anywhere between 2 and 7 years and will not grow any larger than 1-2 inches in size. That sounds to me like the perfect lifespan for a child’s pet! The picture below show ours with clear water and the light on.
