There is something so sweet about reading board books to babies and toddlers when they are little. My heart will always have a place for books and I love reading to children no matter how old they are. The Good Night Children’s Board Book Series from authors Adam Gamble and Mark Jasper is a long time favorite books series of mine. I have bought several over the years. It started by picking one up in a book store I saw and it progressed to buying one every time we visited a big city and we bought one for that locale. A souvenir that lets us think back to our trip every time we read it. Even after buying so many I still had no idea how extensive their collection is! The book series is over ten years old and and is designed to celebrate special places and subjects in a way that young children can easily relate to and enjoy with their families. All of the books are written and illustrated with a simplicity that captures the “essence” of each place or subject.??

Good Night Pirate Ship explores treasure chests, pieces of 8, gold doubloons, pirate flags, cannons and cannonballs, swords, spyglasses, Spanish forts, pirate clothing, pirate foods, the Caribbean, Royal British Navy, and more. Arrr! Come plunder the seas with swashbuckling pirates in search of riches. This adorable board and educational book explores the exciting life of pirates. Hoist the sails, we?re off to sea!
This board book is PERFECT for little pirates. It is very stereotypical “pirate” but that is what I like about it. There is a booty to be split among the crew, cannons to be fired and of course the pirates look rough and wear eye-patches. One of my personal favorite “Good Night” books.
Good Night Books explores storybooks, picture books, pop-up books, animal books, science books, school books, fairy tales, libraries, bookstores, book mobiles, big books, small books, hard- and soft-covered books, and more. This educational and enriching board book delves into the fascinating world of books, detailing everything from learning institutions to every type of book imaginable. Read on!
A book about books…what is not to like? This book goes through all types of books from touch-and-feel books to coloring and puzzle books. I am a former librarian so that may be why I really like this book so much but my little ones enjoy it as well. I really enjoy reading books to my children that help encourage them to discover the wonder and excitement in books!
Good Night Whales features blue whales, killer whales, sperm whales, pilot whales, right whales, narwhals, beluga whales, breaching, bubble netting, dolphins, seals, sea otters, walruses, and more. Whales are some of the most astounding creatures on earth. Young marine biologists delight in journeying across the world’s great oceans in search of these magnificent creatures.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the book had so many different types of whales listed and it includes other animals from the sea as well. We are especially fond of manatees so it was fun to see them included. A cute board book to show off some of the biggest mammals on earth!
From swimming in the ocean to Fourth of July fireworks, Good Night Summer captures the enduring spirit of summertime fun. Young readers participate in their favorite warm-weather activities, including going to the lake, building sand castles at the beach, boating, fishing, picnics, playgrounds, eating ice cream, camping, barbecues, catching fireflies, and so much more.
Ah summer…my family’s favorite time of the year! All the things we love about summer are put into this one board book! My two older girls love reading this one to their baby sister as it gets them excited for all the activities they hope to do every summer. A book reminding us of lazy days and many memories to be made!
Good Night Galaxy explores the Milky Way planets, the sun, the moon, asteroids, comets, black holes, constellations, binary stars, the Big Dipper, meteors, the Orion nebula, red giants, and more. Blasting into outer space, this unique and educational board book gives young astronauts a tour of our Milky Way Galaxy. No asteroid is left unturned!
This book hits all the highlights on the amazing things going on in our galaxy. From shooting stars to asteroids and planets each one is explained in a way for the littlest of readers to understand and enjoy. I certainly hope my girls will have a fascination with space like I do and this book is just the beginning.
Good Night Beach features building sand castles by the ocean, boating, swimming, exploring the seashore, waves, tidal pools, surfing, fishing, snorkeling, crabs, seagulls, picnics, campfires, sunsets, and more. Grab your beach ball and towel, it’s that time of year again! This charming book guides little ones in discovering all the wonderful things the seashore has to offer.
My all time favorite place to visit during the summer is the beach. This book walks your little one through a full day of activities you can do at the beach. It includes some of our personal favorites like shelling and snorkeling. There is something special about salty wind in your hair and this book reminds us all about the fun that can be had at the beach!
Good Night Lake features ducks and swans, frogs, vegetation, water skiing, playing in the sand, hiking, swimming, lighthouses, fall colors, insects, camping, stargazing, canoeists, winter fun, and more. What could be more magical than a day at the lake? This charming board book explores all aspects of lakeside fun. Don?t forget your bathing suit and fishing rod!
I grew up living on a lake so the shores will always hold a special place in my heart. Take little readers on a trip to the lake and spend the day doing fun things like water skiing and camping. A must have addition to a summer book line up.
Good Night Fish highlights swordfish, salmon, angel fish, butterfly fish, parrotfish, clownfish, groupers, tuna, puffer fish, sawfish, sharks, flying fish, flashlight fish, seahorses, largemouth bass, catfish, and even toothy Amazon piranhas. Put on your snorkel and fins, it’s time to dive into cool freshwater lakes, gentle rivers, and the salty depths of oceans. Exploring the fascinating world of fish has never been more fun or educational.
Fish are an animal all children seem to enjoy looking at. They are fun to see in fish tanks and they are always fun to draw. In this book journey through a wide verity of fish from all kinds of waters. Some are colorful and some light up but they are all fun to read about.
Good Night Bedtime highlights reading stories, putting on pajamas, taking a bath, brushing teeth and hair, feeding pets, putting toys away, stuffed animals and blankies, wishing upon a star, singing lullabies, sweet dreams, coloring, counting sheep, talking about the day, nightlights, getting tucked in, hugs and kisses, and more. This charming board book puts little ones to bed in a soothing and loving way. Children will recognize all their favorite bedtime rituals and may even learn a few new ones. Shhh, it’s bedtime!
This is the Good Night book to end all Good Night Books. The whole book is about getting ready for bed and all the activities that accompany that. From bath time to shadow puppets on the wall this is the ultimate book to read to babies and toddlers before bed.
Good Night Ocean explores whales, fish, crabs, eels, octopus, penguins, walruses, swordfish, seals, and sharks, battleships and submarines, beaches, islands, reefs, harbors, bays, icebergs, the Coast Guard, fishing boats, and more. An educational and enriching book set in diverse environments of the world’s oceans, this delightful book fosters an appreciation for the beauty and diversity of the marine world.
I put this book last because it sums up all the books on my list! It includes whales, sunken pirate ships, fish, stars and more! Living in Florida we have a big love for the ocean and all of the creatures below and above it so this book gets read the most from this list. We are already talking about summer vacation plans and you can be sure these will get packed with us!
Babies and toddlers love the rhythm of saying good morning at the beginning of the book, then learning about the place/topic and then finishing it off with good night at the end. It is soothing to children to see a pattern among the books and that makes Good Night Books especially great for bed time. We even pack a few for vacations so we can take our favorites with us.
