I received Tea with Oliver for this review/feature. Opinions expressed are my own.
Filled with humor and heart and brought to life with gorgeous watercolor and ink illustrations, debut author-illustrator Mika Song shows readers how friends can come in all shapes and sizes and be found in the most unexpected places in Tea with Oliver.
Oliver is not like other cats. He likes cookies and tea and just wants a friend to share them with.
Philbert is the shy mouse who lives under Oliver’s couch. He tries to get Oliver’s attention by writing him notes, but Oliver doesn?t notice little Philbert. When a full-on cat party erupts at Oliver’s apartment, brave Philbert decides this is his big chance to finally introduce himself to Oliver.
Dear Oliver, Let’s have tea.?Love, Philbert (under the couch)
Mika Song grew up in Manila, Philippines. As a child she wrote letters to a mouse who lived under her mother’s desk. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband, daughter, and cat. This is her first book as author and illustrator.
This sweet book is great for the 4 to 8 age group. Oliver just wants someone to have tea with him but a small mouse in the house is much to shy to go to him and tell him he wants to have tea together. Situations keep coming up that keep them apart. A cute book about friendship and stepping out of your comfort zone. Would be especially great for little ones starting preschool and kindergarten as a way to show them that if they speak up they will meet new friends.
