Lil Sis just started kindergarten last week and it has been an exciting transition for the whole family. During dinner she loves telling us about her day and we all love hearing about it…even Big Sis. With this new routine has come a whole new world of exciting things like class centers, eating lunch in a “real” cafeteria and doing “real” work in class. I have also enjoyed reading her books at night that have a school theme and here are 6 Picture Books for Kindergarten that we have been reading the last 2 weeks.
Danny and the Dinosaur: School Days
Why don?t dinosaurs go to school? In Danny and the Dinosaur: School Days, the dinosaur gets curious and follows his friend Danny to school! But Danny’s buddy is too big to ride the school bus, and school lunch isntquite right?for a dinosaur… So, he decides to do school his own way?dino style?and it turns out to be the best class ever!
Clark the Shark: And The Big Book Report
Be bold, be smart, and speak from the heart! Clark the Shark is ready to present his book report to the class. But at the last minute, Clark gets stage fright and clams up in front of everybody. With a little help from his teacher, Mrs. Inkydink, will Clark be able to overcome his fears?
Let’s Investigate with Nate #1: The Water Cycle
Ever wonder where water comes from and where it goes? Or why sometimes it rains and sometimes it snows? Then join Nate Ball and his crack team of curious scientists as they shrink down smaller than a raindrop to see firsthand what the water cycle is all about.
Let’s Investigate with Nate #2: The Solar System
Ever look up at the sky and wonder how many planets there are? Or want to know how many Earths could fit within the Sun? Take a ride 3.6 billion miles away to answer these questions and more while exploring the solar system with Nate and his team of adventurous scientists! Walk on the moon, fly with a satellite, gaze at comets, and discover why Pluto isn?t a planet anymore.
It’s the night before the twins are starting kindergarten, and they have the just-about-to-start-school jitters. After all, they will be in different classrooms! What will kindergarten be like when they?re not together all day? But Dax and Zoe will learn that kindergarten is full of new surprises and adventures, and being apart for a short while isn?t so bad.
Smarter than a rocket scientist, more powerful than a monster truck, able to halt traffic with the flick of a switch! Drive you to school and keeps you safe! Who am I? Your school bus, that’s who!
Each of these books have been a hit with Lil Sis and we have read each one several times now. The new school year is a fresh start for all kids and I really enjoy reading books about school and learning to get them into the mood. For all those kids out there celebrating their first day of Kindergarten I hope you have a fabulous first year in school!
