Packing lunch for my girls is part of our every weekday morning routine during the school year. It is made infinitely easier and more fun by using the bento-style lunch boxes from PlanetBox. The smart lunchbox brand helps both children and adults plan healthy, no waste meals for school or work. It is so easy that any mom or dad can do it! No fancy crafty skills required!
Their lunchbox helps guide you in packing well-balanced meals quickly and easy with their bento-style segmented containers. PlanetBox comes in three different styles; Rover, Launch and Shuttle. Each system is tailored for different appetites for children and adults. Right now with 2 young school-aged children my preference is for the Rover which you will see in all my pictures in this post.
The Rover holds nearly 4.5 cups of food and each Rover includes 1 Big Dipper and 1 Little Dipper. They also have a variety of additional accessories that fit perfectly into the different styles. I highly suggest getting several different accessories and/or purchasing an all-in-one kit to start.
The magnets on the front of the Rover just pop right on and off. My girls like having several sets so they can pick one out each morning right before closing it all up. We have two Rovers and the oldest one is going on 2+ years now and still works great! Since this lunch box will last for years I buy the girls new magnets each year so it feels “new” even though everything else is the same. These sets are built to last! The black section on the left below holds the ice pack and the elastic next to it can hold silverware.

Here is just one of our packed lunches. Each of my girls helps select the items that go in it each morning. They think it is fun and they are very conscious about what makes an acceptable lunch.
Their water bottles fit perfectly into the front drink pocket. These water bottles are so nice! It features an easy-to-drink, soft spout which is easy to clean as there are no straws. They are double-walled and vacuum-insulated so it doesn’t sweat. The unique latch is simple so little hands can open and lock it tight. Finally it features a leak-proof cap and bottle – cap stays open when drinking, and keeps drinking spout clean when closed.
There is a 2nd pouch that we put notes or snacks in and sometimes money for any purchases they might like to make at lunch. The handle is extremely sturdy and adjustable in length.
These not only promote healthy eating but they also reduce waste. No need for plastic baggies or juice boxes that just get tossed into the garbage every day. I put them in the washing machine every day (always take off the magnets first) so clean up is even a breeze.
This lunch box is truly amazing! We have been using them for years and they hold up so well. I am not fancy or crafty so I don’t make those pinterest worthy bento lunches but I still think these lunches look awesome and according to my girls they taste great.
