It’s football season again and we’ve been watching our favorite teams play, while snacking on the tasty food that comes along with tailgating parties. I just shared some football tailgate party ideas last week and and these?DIY Football Mason Jars were center stage during our game day festivities. They’re perfect to house utensils and even work as vases for gorgeous floral centerpieces. today, I’m sharing just how easy they are to make in an easy to follow tutorial. The best part is that you don’t even really need any kind of crafting skills to make them!
DIY Football Mason Jars
You’ll need the following supplies:
- Mason jars, pint size
- Brown semi-gloss acrylic paint
- White semi-gloss acrylic paint
- Football ribbon
- Foam brush, small
- Paint brush
- Hot glue gun
Step 1. Pour some brown paint onto a paper plate and coat the entire outside of the mason jar with brown paint. Let dry and apply a second coat. A third coat may be needed.
Step 2. Once the entire jar is painted ion brown and dry, pour a bit of white paint onto a paper plate and paint a white stripe, about 3/4 inch thick right down the middle of one side of the jar. A second and possibly third coat will be needed. Just make sure to let each coat dry or you’ll have a sloppy mess.
Step 3. Once the white stripe is completely dry, it’s time to pain the laces on. Start from about 1/4 to 1/2 inch outside the stripe and pain from the outside in, stopping just after your stripe. Do 5 on each side, for a total of 10. I found it easiest to start in the middle, then do 2 above and 2 below, so it was perfectly even.
Step 4.?cut your ribbon to fit around the lip of the mason jar, leaving about 1/2 inch or so to spare. Using a hot glue gun, apply a small dab of glue onto one end of the ribbon and attach it to the back of the jar. Wrap the ribbon halfway?around the lip, add another dot of glue and finish wrapping until it meets the other end, secure with a dot of glue.
There you have it – super easy DIY football mason jars. They’ll be a hit at your next party!
