American Girl has announced the debut of WellieWishers, an all-new content & doll lifestyle brand for girls ages 5 to 7. The lively group of WellieWishers friends imagine and play in an enchanted neighborhood garden supervised by Aunt Miranda. Through their heartwarming and humorous adventures, the WellieWishers help a girl to learn how to “stand in another person’s wellies” to discover the skills of empathy, kindness, and compassion that will help her be a good friend.
Available through American Girl channels starting today, the line will include the first-ever animated series based on the WellieWishers characters (arriving this fall), plus digital play experiences, early chapter books, a line of adorable 14 1/2-inch dolls and garden-themed accessories that help bring the characters and their stories to life for young girls.
There are 5 different dolls with 5 different personalities. There is Camille, Emerson, Willa, Kendall and Ashlyn. Each are ridiculously adorable!
I have 2 daughters in the target age range for WellieWishers and both of them instantly fell in love with Camille. They had her on adventures as soon as I took her out of the package. She is?14.5″ tall, can stand on her own, has removable clothes (underwear too) and her wellies can be taken off. Once I showed them the matching line of clothes and accessories online the squeals of delight could be heard down the block. They did not get their girly-ness from me! I can honestly say I never got excited for a doll like these two do.
There are also illustrated early chapter books about the WellieWishers? fun and fanciful outdoor adventures that are written with humor and heart by American Girl author Valerie Tripp. Of course the most exciting part that brings this all together is American Girl’s first-ever animated series, airing in fall 2016. Each 11-minute episode follows the fun-filled exploits of the five smart and lively six-year-olds, who have limitless imaginations and the same big wish: to be a good friend. When the WellieWishers step into their colorful rain boots, they are ready for anything in their aunt’s whimsical backyard garden. Young viewers are entertained through stories, humor, and catchy songs as the WellieWishers work, dream, and play together?feeding birds, making mud pies, creating art, and putting on shows?all while imparting valuable lessons in friendship.
To further engage girls and bring the characters to life, American Girl is debuting a free WellieWishers app, where players can explore the interactive garden world through three mini games?Carrot Care, Mud Pie Maker, and Garden Harmony. Little girls will delight in the sweet, silly, and unexpected surprises that get unlocked the more they play. We are now big fans of WellieWishers and we can’t wait to watch the show and read the books next.
