Last month I posted a review with the process of receiving and setting up our butterfly nursery from Lakeshore Learning and I am happy to report back that we got butterflies!
Every single one of our caterpillars made it through to the end and became butterflies. We enjoyed watching the caterpillars get bigger and bigger every day. No joke these things got big!
Once they all turned to a chrysalis I oh so carefully moved them to the butterfly nursery and then we waited.
It finally happened….exactly 7 days later the butterflies started to emerge. We missed the “birth” of the first two but we watched the others all come out of their chrysalis. One was a late bloomer and emerged 24 hours later than its siblings.
They were each a very bright orange color….just beautiful! We decided to release them in a butterfly garden we had recently planted.
Overall this was a huge hit with every single member of my family both children and adults. The whole process was something we thoroughly enjoyed watching. We can’t wait to raise more butterflies!
