I’m a sucker for bark. Not the kind that you find on a tree, rather the sweet, chocolaty treat that is best known around Christmas time. But the stuff is so good that once a ear just isn’t enough to indulge in its tastiness. So I made a version for Valentine’s Day and it’s so good that I can’t even call it bark. It’s more suitable as M&Ms Valentine’s Crack!
Not only is this?M&Ms Valentine’s Crack quite delicious, it’s very easy to make. There’s a printable recipe card below, but since a lot of people are visual, I wanted to explain through photos as well.
You’ll start out by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper so that you don’t end up with too sticky of a mess when you’re done. Then you’ll line fill the sheet with saltine crackers. Next, you’ll pour the buttery brown sugar mixture over it, then stick it in the oven to bake for a bit.
While that’s baking, crush some valentine’s M&Ms into smaller chunks. I like to put them in a zippered bag, then use a meat tenderizer to crush them.
Once the timer beeps and it’s time to remove your pan?from the oven, load it up with milk and white chocolate chips, a half package of each. Stick it back in the oven for a few minutes, then spread the chocolate in and even layer across the pan.?Now sprinkle the crushed M&Ms all over and refrigerate for about an hour or so, until the chocolate is nice and hard.
Once the chocolate is hardened, remove from refrigerator and break the bark into pieces. You can make these as large or small as you want but they are quite rich so I generally try to break them into pieces about 2 inches.
Now eat and enjoy!
