For girls that love the Fancy Nancy picture book series when they get older and graduate to chapter books the Nancy Clancy book series is not to be missed. In book 6 of the series, Nancy Clancy: Soccer Mania, Nancy thinks she is really terrible at soccer but she likes playing the game and wants to get better at it. She loves her fun uniform and to paint her nails to match. Her hope is to at least become mediocre at the game.
Nancy Clancy loves playing on her soccer team, the Green Goblins. Even though she’s not the best player on the team, she’s happy just being average?after all, it’s her goal to be mediocre. But in the last game of the season, with only a few minutes left on the clock, a surprising encounter on the field causes Nancy to make an incredible play. Will Nancy help bring the Green Goblins to victory and prove, against all odds, that maybe she’s not such a bad player?
With more than 27 million books sold since the whole series was launched and more than 325 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list the Fancy Nancy franchise is clearly a hit and my daughters and all my girls in my Girl Scouts troop can’t read enough of them. This chapter book is great for those new to chapter books because there are cute black and white illustrations throughout the book. I think I may enjoy the Fancy Nancy series as much as my girls do!
