Now that the dress up and receive candy holiday is behind us it is time to focus on my personal favorite eating holiday….Thanksgiving. The big meal serves up some of my all time favorite foods as well as spending the day with family. Here are some super cute children’s books to help celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.

Little Critter is going to have a Thanksgiving he’ll never forget! From the school play to a surprise dinner for all of Critterville, celebrate along with Little Critter and his family as they give thanks this holiday.
You can never go wrong with a Little Critter book. Starring Mercer Mayer’s classic, loveable character, Just a Special Thanksgiving, is perfect for reading around Thanksgiving time and includes a sheet of stickers. This book has a little bit of everything including a school play (with a little bit of stage fright), a parade and helping out at a community center.
Thanksgiving is always a big day at the Tappletons’. Mrs. Tappleton gets up very early to prepare the turkey. Mr. Tappleton sets off to buy pies. Kenny makes the salad while Jenny mashes the potatoes.
But this Thanksgiving each task is interrupted by calamity and hilarity: first the turkey slips away . . . then the bakery sells out of pies . . . and so on, until Uncle Fritz and Grandfather Tappleton despair of ever eating dinner at all!
It’s not until Grandmother Tappleton reminds everyone, “There is more to Thanksgiving than a turkey and trimmings,” that the Tappletons begin to improvise . . . and end up enjoying a most unusual holiday “feast.”
Thanksgiving at the Tappletons’? has been around for a long time and is a great book to read as an annual tradition. This version includes the original artwork by Maryann Cocca-Leffler, which fans of the earliest version will love. This funny book follows each family member as a they have a small mishap with the food they were suppose to prepare for the big meal. As they sit down at the table they discover there is no food! Instead Grandmother Tappleton reminds everyone of the true importance of Thanksgiving and spending time with the ones you love.
