I’m a self-described cat lady. I love all things pertaining to cats and have quite a collection of cool cat related coffee table books and items. However, none of the books are as amazing?as the newest in my collection, Feminist Felines. This book is more than a just a coffee table book and should be read often as it’s not only cute, but empowering for young women as well.
Feminist Felines is a 34-page, full-color, hardback book with a?pawsitive?message and bright, hand-drawn?illustrations. The story is based on the author’s’sister’s two cats and how they became fierce, feisty, feminist felines! Equality for women around the globe?at school, in the workplace, and elsewhere?will be instrumental in eradicating many of humanity’s greatest problems. The story demonstrates how it’s in the best interest of all of us to support one another!
The story shares the adventures of Mischief and Tinker going into NYC. These lovely felines catch a cab and head straight to the museum where they check out some important paintings and talk about how women have been viewed throughout history. Rightly so, these kittens want to take a stand about equality and supporting not only their fellow female felines, but all of cat and mankind as well.
I absolutely love this book. The story itself is wonderful and can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. The illustrations are gorgeous and were well thought out and a perfect match to the story. There’s many a cat pun throughout the book which I found to be clever and cute. Feminist Felines would make an excellent children’s book or even a novelty gift for the cat-lover in your life.
