It is currently storming at my house and one of our favorite ways to celebrate is to grab a bunch of books and curl up in blankets while I read out loud. Picture book still rule the roost here with my 3 and 6 year old. Today we enjoyed Tulip and Rex Write a Story written by Alyssa Satin Capucilli and illustrated by Sarah Massini. The first book in this series was Tulip Loves Rex and in this book they receive a package from Grandma and they decide to take their new gifts on a walk and enjoy them. In the notebook Tulip records words like butterfly and kind as they dance about while enjoying their walk.
It’s a whole new way of taking a walk!
When a package arrives from Grandma with a notebook for Tulip and a new leash for Rex, these two friends gallop to the park for a very special kind of walk?a word walk!
From tickly flutter to slightly scary shadow, all the wonderful words they find go right into the notebook.
But once they’ve collected all those lovely, lively words, what are they to do? Tulip has an idea. . . .
Alyssa Satin Capucilli and Sarah Massini have crafted another heartwarming tale featuring the characters readers first adored in Tulip Loves Rex, this time celebrating creativity, friendship, and the magical power of words to transform ordinary days into extraordinary stories.
This book is for ages 4-8 and it includes beautiful illustrations as they go on a magical walk only a child would take. Capucilli is the author of the beloved Biscuit series and this book is just as great as her other works. A great picture book, especially one for little girls!
