My family has had a busy summer – extremely busy. There were only a few weekends that we didn’t have something going on so we were constantly on the go and even took quite a few little summer road trips. It’s was fun and exciting but now it’s time to relax and take the next couple of weeks easy! Since we did spend so much time on the road though, my kids were able to keep their minds open by reading books in the car and on the beach. Maggie McGuire shares some tips to avoid “summer brain drain” ?and get kids reading ready for the new school year in the video below.
- Original Short Stories
- Parenting resources
- Innovation Machine Game
- Summer Reading Tips
- The Great Greene Heist – Full of mystery and adventure
- Terrifying Tales – Perfect ?for around the campfire
- The Invention of Hugo Cabret – Interesting, better than the movie
- Diary of a Wimpy Kid – I’m hooked on this series!
- Percy Jackson Series – Awesome, heroic, wet, strong, Greek
My boys really enjoyed participating in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge this year. In about 3 months, they logged in over 2,500 minutes of reading between the two of them! We’ll definitely be participating again next year.
Energizer and Scholastic have played a big role in getting kids to read during the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge and they’ve teamed up this year to bring the “Power the Possibilities” campaign to us. It helps moms like me unlock my kids’ talents, encourage them to be ambitious and help set up their successful future. You can have a chance to win one of thousands of prizes by playing the scratch game on specially marked packages of Energizer batteries. Prizes include:
- Family trip to New York City
- Scholastic Study Corner Makeover
- Tablet with Scholastic apps
- Library of Scholastic books
- and more
