My 4 year old and I had a great time creating our POTATOYZ.Wedecided that given the shape, a Star Wars themed R2D2 would be the perfect design for our toy. My son did ask me to create this one for him, but he made?many of his own POTATOYZ in the studio. It was nice watching him use his imagination as he?worked on them.
Using the app was incredibly easy and was very touch sensitive, allowing for drawing small details. You have the ability to draw, add patterns, stickers, or even use one of their already designed models to make your POTATOYZ. Whatever you draw shows up in real time on the other side so you can see exactly what you’re creating.
When?your POTATOYZ is done, you send it to the photo booth to give it a name and create a background for it. This is a fun way to get a photo of your new toy to share with others. ?A parental permission screen along with a math problem comes up before going to the purchase area.
Once in the shop, you select your POTATOYZ and purchase. Then it’s off to the 3D printer and eventually, to your mailbox.
We both couldn’t wait for our POTATOYZ to arrive. We’ve been checking daily since we received our shipping notification email. The POTATERIE, where they’re created, is located in Paris, France and was co-founded by two friends passionate about animation and technology. They worked on the animation for The Lorax and Despicable Me and decided to create their own series of adorable characters – POTATOYZ.
Each POTATOYZ comes in it’s own box along with a certificate of authenticity. Although this is more of a collectible object than a toy, my son absolutely loves it. He placed it right on his dresser along with his other more delicate “toys.”
I was completely blown away by how cool the POTATOYZ is. I really enjoyed using the app with my son and am even more impressed now that we’ve received our toy. It’s absolutely adorable and makes the perfect collectible for kids or fun-loving adults. I cannot wait to create more to add to our collection. There really are no limits to how you create your POTATOYZ – just let your imagination run wild and have fun.
