Being a new parent is certainly scary and when my boys were little I remember worrying over every single thing, especially whether or not they were reaching certain milestones. A baby’s health and development are a parent’s top priority and with the brand new app, Milestones by Lyfeline, parents have a wealth of information at their fingertips to track their child’s development and detect potential issues. This app is very easy to use and can help you as the parent to be aware of your child’s development because early detection of potential developmental issues is critical. Studies have shown that early treatment of autism, ADHD, hearing conditions and other developmental disorders can lead to significantly better outcomes.

As you set up your account it asks all the basic information on your child like name and birthday and then you get into the assessments. These questions help you get to know how your child is doing from a social, fine motor, gross motor, language and self-help (independence) perspective. The app provides a developmental age, percentiles (optional), and interpretation of each metric of development. Assessments are based on proven medical practice – the CDI/IDI assessments are recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the gold standard in pediatric medicine. Parents will be informed about how their child is progressing and whether or not they need to discuss possible developmental delays with their child’s pediatrician at their next visit.
Unlike apps that provide general or age based information, Milestones provides information and activities specific to accelerating a child’s developmental progress. Each challenge or information card is a short, fun and informative way for parents to learn and interact with their newborn. Through information cards, you?ll learn useful tips about breastfeeding, putting baby to sleep, tummy time and other important information. With more than 1,000 easy-to-use information and activity cards created by child development experts and validated by pediatricians there are?endless ways to help your child progress and it keeps parents motivated to work with their child on these challenges and then share their achievements and their child’s successes with other caregivers.
