Mazda provided me with a vehicle to drive for a week. All opinions are of my own.
I love road trips. In fact, when I was younger, I lived for them. For a portion of my young adult life, I moved between Indiana and Wisconsin a few different times, travelling back and forth at least once a week; often more. I was at one with my car and felt inspired by the open road in front of me. That car happened to be a Mazda, a MX6 – my first car, my “baby” if you will. I truly loved it and all of these years later, I would still like to own another Mazda.
Well we recently took a road trip to visit my sister in law, her husband and the quadruplets. We traveled 4.5 hours to the North Woods of Wisconsin to celebrate the boys’ second birthday and we got to travel in style in a Mazda CX-9. Let me just say that I was in love at first site and fell even deeper in love after driving it for the week.
This baby has so many wonderful features that kept us comfortable for endless hours on the road.
10 Reasons the Mazda CX-9 Will Rock Your Roadtrip
- Air conditioning with 3-zone automatic climate control
- GPS
- Third row seating
- Available Sirius XM Satellite Radio and Bose Centerpoint 10-speaker Surround Sound System with AudioPilot
- Roof Rails
- Available Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) system
- Good MPG
- Very spacious
- Comfortable interior
- Smooth ride
The GPS was important on our road trip because we had only been up to visit them once before, so we don’t quite know the way from practice yet. I just punched in their address and off we went, the GPS guiding us the entire way. The stereo is also on that same screen and features?Sirius XM Satellite Radio and Bose Centerpoint 10-speaker Surround Sound System with AudioPilot. We were able to listen to our tunes, yet still hear the voice on the GPS when we needed to make a turn. We like our music loud and these speakers sure know how to rock!
Speaking of turns, one of the first features my husband noticed when we hopped on the freeway is the available Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) system. The side mirrors actually let you know when a vehicle is in your blond spot – amazing!
The?Mazda CX-9 is quite spacious, more than it would appear to be from the outside. There are 3 rows of seating to fit 7 passengers. There’s also cargo space in the back and roof rails to carry your stuff on top, should the extra space be needed. The?third row of seating folds down completely for ample space when you don’t have the extra passengers.

And talk about comfort.. wow – as a driver, that was the most comfortable ride by far. The passengers agreed! I was able to move the seat forward, backward, up and down to find my perfect spot. It’s so roomy that everyone could stretch out and find their comfortable spot for the next few hours.
It was quite warm that weekend so the air conditioning with 3-zone automatic climate control came in handy. We could all get the perfect level of cold air to keep us cool but not too cold (or warm).
The whole handling of the vehicle – how it drives, how it rides on the road and the steering – made it such a wonderful ride. On a long trip like that, the way a vehicle handles matters so much and the Mazda CX-9 far surpassed my expectations. I would happily take that baby on a road trip again any day!
My husband and I are looking to buy a new vehicle this fall. We’ve looked at quite a few vehicles that attracted us, but after driving the?Mazda CX-9, that now tops our list. My sister in law is in the market, so I took her for a ride and she is currently talking her husband into trading her car in for one of these!
