I have a thing for butterflies. They’re just beautiful in my eyes and many years ago, I decided that the lovely creatures would adorn my bathroom. I’m talking wall art, knick-knacks, even right down to my shower curtain. Walking into my bathroom was like walking into a garden full of butterflies. And I loved it, I really did. But now, eh, not so much. I still adore butterflies and I love a lot of the decor that I’ve collected, but it was time to get rid of the shower curtain filled with butterflies and just do a little bit of general updating.
Now updating your bathroom to give it a breath of fresh or or even to change up the theme is rather simple. You don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on a complete re-do, in fact, you can add some simple touches for under $100 at Kohl’s and I’m going to show you how!
1. New shower curtain – A new shower curtain can breath and entire new life into a bathroom. It’s usually the biggest focal point in the room and even changing the color can make a huge difference. My bathroom lighting is horrible, but the curtain that I chose is an off white and has stripes of grey. It blends well with the purple walls, yet still matches the current butterfly wall art. I left my old butterfly curtain hooks to subtly tie in the butterflies.
2. New rug – Every bathroom needs a rug, especially right by the shower. That way you can step right out onto warmth and softness. I chose a super plush grey rug to match the curtain and tie the grey into a room filled with purple.
3. New Towels – Everyone likes fresh new towels, but beyond that, you can choose almost any color you like to make a whole new look. I chose purple to tie the purple in, since I had a lot ofthat color in my old shower curtain.
4. Hand Towels – Believe it or not, your hand towels can completely transform a room. Choose something that matches your theme or colors and it really ties it all together!
