I suffer from serious seasonal allergies. During certain points of the year when the weather is drastically changing, I am often a miserable mess. I do everything under the sun to get things under control, but sometimes it’s just not enough. I generally feel the most relief at nighttime after I’ve slathered my chest with vaporizing rub and apply some under my nostrils to let the vapors do their work.
A few weeks ago I started seeing this image of vapor shower bombs floating around Facebook and thought “hey, I bet those work wonders” and decided to give them a try. Not only were they easy and quick to make but they actually work – and pretty well I might add!
You’ll need the following ingredients:
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 tbsp vaporizing rub
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup corn starch
- 12 paper muffin/cupcake liners
- food coloring (optional)
1. Line a muffin pan with paper liners. After making mine, I recommend using two in each slot because the oils may leak through the paper a bit. Doubling up just lessons this chance that this will happen.
2. In a small sauce pan, heat 1/3 cup of water and stir the vaporizing rub in. Continue stirring until the vaporizing rub has melted into the water.
3. Add the baking soda and cornstarch. If you’d like to color your Vaporizing Shower Bombs, add in a few drops of food coloring in your favorite color. Stir well until you have a thick paste-like mixture.
4. Fill each muffin liner about 1/3 of the way with the mixture. Press down with a spoon to help it form.
5. Place muffin tray in a safe spot away from children and let sit overnight to harden.
Once the Vaporizing Shower Bombs are set, you’ll want to remove them from the pan and liners then place them into an airtight container for storage. Whenever you feel the need, drop a bomb into the bottom of the bathtub while you’re showering and let it work its magic. In no time at all, you’ll be able to breathe much better!
