~I received a copy of Mythbusters Collection 11 for review. Opinions and stories are my own.~
I don’t think I need to explain who the Mythbusters are, but just in case you haven’t watched the show I’ll bring you up to speed. First of all, Mythbusters is a science experiment program on the Discovery Channel with the purpose of debunking ‘myths’, such as: rumors, actual myths, movie scenes and news stories. The shows hosts are Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, who both use their skills as special effects experts and the scientific method to test the validity of the stories presented to them.
Since Mythbusters doesn’t follow the rules of typical television seasons, Discovery Channel puts out both Season sets (which follow closely to the calendar year) and “Collections” which are put together a different way. In this case, Collection 11 features episodes from 2011. The Episodes included are:
Disc 1
- Bikes and Bazookas
- New’s Crane Cradle
- Walk a Straight Line
- Duct Tape Plane
- Flying Guillotine
Disc 2
- Drain Disaster
- Wheel of Mythfortune
- Toilet Bomb
- Location, Location, Location
- Wet and Wild
Imagine Newton’s Cradle made from wrecking balls! Tot loved that. He’s a very big fan of construction trucks and he thought it was the most amazing thing he’d ever seen. There are a lot of great episodes to teach kids about science and get them excited about testing out their own theories… on a much smaller, safer scale of course. Don’t worry, they have many warnings about not trying any of these crazy things at home!
This is a whole lot of fun to watch with the family and it is always fun to learn about what myths get debunked and which ones actually stand up to fact! You can make it a game in the beginning and see who can guess before they start which ones will wind up being false.
You can find out more about Mythbusters Collection 11 on Discovery Channel and purchase it in the store! Make sure you follow along on Facebook and/or @Mythbusters on Twitter for more crazy fun!
