Life can get rather messy. Well, let’s face it, things can get downright dirty and just plain icky at times! But, sometimes you gotta roll with the punches and just laugh at those not so perfect moments. The people at Clorox know just how messy things can get, so they’ve teamed up with Chicago improv troupe The Second City Communications for the Clorox Ick Awards. The #ickies will probably be the messiest virtual awards show ever, but that’s the fun of it!
Now, before I move on to the details, I must first tell you about some of my icky moments. Living in a house full of boys, those moments are definitely plentiful. We’ve had some serious gross stuff happen around here – enough to make your stomach turn!
I’ll leave those really gross stories out of this because for one, I’m sure you’d rather not hear and for two, I’m not so much into completely embarrassing my poor kiddos!
This first one is rather funny. My aunts and cousin were visiting us for a week over the summer last year and my cousin is just something else, to say the least! We had just finished playing on the giant raft we have in the lake and everyone was dying to cut the watermelon we had bought and forgot about the day before. I finally got around to getting it all cut up for them and after they’d had their fill, my cousin and Lil Man decided to get as messy as they possibly could with the watermelon. The little dude had it dripping everywhere and he was a sticky mess! It was funny, but definitely a one time kind of funny and he promised never to do that again.
Another icky moment happened around Halloween. We were making some ghost treats and the kids thought it would be hilarious to purposely get the whipped cream all over their faces and get me to snap a photo. By the time they were done, Big Bro had it in his eyebrows! Being a mom of boys, sometimes all I can do is shake my head and let them do their thing – so long as it’s not too raunchy!
