Before I had a chance to show my girls our latest DVD/doll review my nearly four-year-old almost wouldn’t leave Target without the latest Monster High? Frights, Camera, Action DVD. At the registers they had all the latest DVD’s and my daughter went bonkers over Monster High. Once we got in the car she informed me that she was going to have a Monster High birthday party (this is a week before her birthday). As any good mother would do I changed my baby girl’s birthday plans to Monster High. She wanted a spooky party.
When Draculaura is led to believe she’s the rightful heir to the vampire throne, she and her best ghoulfriends are whisked away to Transylvania for a royal coronation to die for. But they soon discover the hunt for the queen is not over yet. The Ghouls must locate an ancient artifact known as the Vampire’s Heart in order to discover the identity of the true Vampire Queen. It’s a fangtastic adventure that will lead them from the Tower of Londoom, to a haunted river boat in New Goreleans and finally to the glamorous boo-vie lots of Hauntlywood. Could this be the moment when Draculaura finally receives her vampire powers and discovers screams really can come true?
I have to admit that I loved this DVD as much as my girls did. Draculaura and her best ghouls first clue for the Vampire’s Heart leads them to Londoom. Where they met up with Claudeen Wolf’s older sister Clawdia Wolf and she leads them to the crown. The clue they found from the crown leads them to New Goreleans on a haunted river boat where they meet Honey Swamp. She was one of my favorite characters, I have always loved the Cajun dialect. I have spent many vacations in New Orleans or should I say New Goreleans. She had video tapped the next to the last clue for the Vampire’s Heart. Which leads them to Hauntlywood. When they arrive in Hauntlywood they meet the famous actress Veronica Von Vamp. She has the Vampire’s Heart.
What an adventure these ghouls go on to find the Vampire’s Heart. I didn’t want to give away the ending, but for all of you mystery buffs this DVD has quite the twist at the end. I love the animation, but I also love the dolls themselves. They are designed for children ages 6+ because they have small parts that you can interchange with other dolls. My daughter squealed with delight when she saw Honey Swamp. I have to admit she is quite beautiful with her wild hair, teal skin tone and snake like eyes.
I even had a chance to check out Monster High’s website, and I have included a link to Honey Swamp’s character bio. Their site also has games for your children to play. Make sure you turn your volume up because the sound effects are a scream.
You can connect with Monster High on their website.
You can buy Monster High? Frights, Camera, Action DVD for $19.99 (currently on sale for $10) and Honey Swamp for $19.99 at Target.
