It is no secret that I am a gamer. In high school I would literally spend countless hours playing video games. I was not a typical girl for sure. In today’s world with a smart phone on me at all times it means I can play games anytime and anywhere…and I do! Today Big Fish launched Hidden Expedition: The Smithsonian Hope Diamond on both the iPhone and iPad.
This journey takes you from the Smithsonian Institution’s iconic castle to the remotest jungle as you track down the missing shards and learn the secret of the Hope Diamond’s fascinating history. While the Hope Diamond is famous for its beauty, it is also infamous for a reputed curse said by some to bring tragedy upon those who own or wear the gem.
In this first collaboration by the Smithsonian on a video game, Big Fish worked with the world’s largest museum and research complex to create the 6th installment of its popular Hidden Expedition series. How amazing is that! The Smithsonian had a partnership with Big Fish to make this game be the best it could be!
All the pictures are my still shots from playing on my iPhone 4. I played this game for over an hour straight to get a real feel for the game.
Hidden Expedition: The Smithsonian Hope Diamond is a hidden object adventure game for download and purchase and primarily appeals to our long standing consumer base of female gamers ages 35-70. The game has been available for download on PC and Mac on the Big Fish Games website since December.

I found the game a little confusing when I first started but that is because this is a game with specific goals that you need to do to move on. After several minutes I was able to actually get into the fun of the game. You have been recruited for a mission and you start out on a train that with dangerous thieves aboard and they want the hope diamond shards. As a true adventurer it is your job to track down the shards!
I absolutely love all the little things you have to do to move on in the game. The fact that the objects have accurate depictions is exactly my style. We librarians like accuracy! The voice overs sounded great which was a pleasant surprise.
The joint effort between the Smithsonian and Big Fish for this game really shows. This was my first Big Fish game download but it will not be my last. It is such an addictive game that it took a lot for me to put it down!
