I was born and raised in Orlando so I have eaten at a lot of places here. Over the years I have come to find a few favorites and stick to them. One place that I never tried was Crossroads at House of Blues. I have seen a band at the music side of it but never ventured over to the restaurant side for a meal. After having one meal there I not only fell in love with the food, atmosphere and service but I guarantee I will be back to eat there and it will be in regular rotation on my going out to eat list.
It is located in Downtown Disney. DD is one of those places that has it all. Amazing stores, tons of restaurants, a huge movie theater and more things Disney than you can imagine. When you travel to Orlando this is the place to visit for at least one night of your trip. It is family friendly and has tons of things to do. Finding House of Blues is easy as it is on the far side of the property next to the huge Cirque tent. Just look up for the water tower that says House of Blues.
When you plan on going to one of the Crossroad’s restaurants I highly suggest a reservation. Every single time I have walked past the restaurant, it is always packed with a line of people out the door. I personally love a place that takes reservations since it means I won’t be waiting all night to eat. Here is a super quick video clip from Chef Sanchez. He mentions that one of the signature dishes was the pork chop so based on that alone I planned to order it.
The atmosphere is great. There is artwork on the walls and the low lighting and music set for a fun evening out. The only bad thing about the lighting was not being able to take great food photos. The images may look dark but everything came out perfect!
We immediately asked the waiter for recommendations. Not having eaten there before I like to know whats good. My husband taught me years ago to ask the server and it was about time I did the same. John was his name and he was super knowledgeable about the menu. We asked about the most popular dishes and signature dishes. When he informed us that one of our dessert choices was not his personal favorite we immediately switched our order. The one we did get was amazing!
Apps are always one of my favorite parts of a meal. Here is the VooDoo Shrimp which came highly recommended by John. It is “The house favorite, saut?ed jumbo shrimp, simmered in an amber beer reduction on top of housemade jalape?o cornbread.” It is something I would have never considered ordering on my own. I am so glad I did as it might have been one of my favorite dishes of the night! The other is the Spicy Sausage Flatbread. Not too spicy at all and that is coming from me and I normally don’t go for spicy.
So many delicious entrees to choose from made ordering incredibly hard. I had to go with the Adobe Rubbed Pork Chop which consisted of “citrus marinated center cut pork chop rubbed with Adobo seasoning and served on top of a black eyed pea and butternut squash picadillo.” This was so yummy and the pork chop was moist and paired well with the picadillo. A dry pork chop can ruin a meal. This was nothing but delicious.
Here are the St. Louis Ribs. Literally fall off the bone, finger-lickin good. The full sized rack was huge! I even had leftovers to take home! I saw another table order the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and it literally looked amazing and the amount of food was unlike anything I have seen before. It looked like a whole chicken on the plate! I would easily order that chicken next time.
Bourbon Bread Pudding and Triple Chocolate Cheesecake were up for dessert and they were definitely sized for sharing. Both were really great and the cheesecake was the dessert our server suggested. Thank you John for our amazing service! Who knows, maybe he reads this blog?
Here is one of my good friends and fellow bloggers here at Outnumbered and I outside the restaurant. One of the best selfie pictures her and I have ever taken. I think this Crossroads in particular would be great for families too. I would easily take my 5 and 2 year old here with me and feel comfortable.
They have salads and burgers on their menu too. There really is something for any taste preference to enjoy. My suggestion would be for Crossroads to be on your dinner agenda when you are visiting Orlando or any of their other locations. Be adventurous and order something you might not normally choose. I was pleasantly surprised by all the food choices we made!
