~I received an AcuRite Weather Station for review. Opinions and stories are my own.~
Over the last month I’ve had the opportunity to review the AcuRite What-to-Wear Digital Weather Station. I’m sadly one of those people who have issues dressing for the appropriate weather and it doesn’t help that with the sun beating down on the back of my house, with all it’s windows, it always seems warmer until I walk out the front door. You could say I’m temperature challenged.
The AcuRite What-to-Wear Weather Station has patented Self-Calibrating Technology that provides a personal forecast of 12 to 24 hour weather conditions! It collects and generates data by using a sensor in your own yard; which allows for an accurate forecast for your exact location. The LCD displays:
- Pressure Weather Trends
- Current Indoor/Outdoor Temperature
- Indoor Humidity
- Time / Date
- 20 Different Icons of Clothing Recommendations
When I first placed the sensor outside my back door where the sun hits during the day that the temperature was always higher than it should have been. We fixed this by moving it to the front of the house with moderate sunlight, so make sure when setting up your sensor that you aren’t putting it directly into the sun.
For the predictions on the weather to be at their best, it takes 17 days to collaborate and gather information. You’ll notice that when you first start the weather station there are lines on the right hand side that count down each day. This is the countdown for the data collecting. Afterward, it is pretty incredible how exact the weather station is! Even the little icon man understands more about how to dress outside than I do!
The one aspect of station that we primarily use every single day is the indoor humidity monitoring. Since the weather station is wireless and can be carried throughout the house, we can get readings of how much humidity is in each room in order to make sure the air isn’t so dry. During the winter it is the worst for dry air and really messes with our sinuses, so it is nice to be able to see if our son’s room needs his humidifier running or if there is too much moisture in his room.
The AcuRite What-to-Wear Digital Weather Station also updates every 30 seconds and is powered easily by 2 AA batteries. You can take it anywhere within a 165′ radius as well! My son loves checking out the little guy to see how he should dress and I must admit it helps me out a lot too, especially when he lets me know it’s going to rain that day.
This is a very affordable, durable, easy to set up and use weather station. From digital thermometers to Precision Forecasting Technology, AcuRite has many products to help families be up to date with weather scenarios while making sure they don’t forget their coats!
