I bake numerous times a week, have coffee daily, and tea a few times a week as well. So, what do these three indulgences all have in common? Sugar! Sugar helps yeast to rise, it sweetens up the creamer I only use this time of year, and it helps balance the lemon I add to my tea. Because we use so much sugar, I've started to look into organic, good-the-Earth sugar.Tate + Lyle has been a staple on tables in Britain for over 130 years. Made with 100% pure can sugar and made Fair Trade, which means fair prices, fair wages, and fair work for the small scale sugar cane farmers who produce the sugar, means delicious sugar on your table and a sustainable life for the farmers and the communities they live in.
The Organic Turbinado?Raw Cane Sugar is one of my favorite sugars around. An extra hot, extra dry cappuccino is only made better by a spackling of raw cane sugar sprinkle over the top. It melts onto the foam and has a wonderful molasses flavor and a toasty, nutty aroma. Raw Sugar goes great as a topping, as the lightly, refined golden brown sugar adds a wonderful crunch.
The Organic Pure Cane Sugar has been added to our baking and sweetener routine. The blonde-colored sugar crystals have a subtle molasses flavor, while being delicate thanks to soaking up the sun in organic fields. Tate + Lyle's Organic Pure Cane Sugar is one of the best cane sugars I've tasted. It's pure, sweet but not overly sweet and blows the overly processed table sugar straight out of the water. The sugar dissolves just as easily and I noticed a cleaner taste to our breads, rolls, cookies, and cupcakes! Speaking of cupcakes...
I made these Peppermint Crunch Cupcakes using purely Tate + Lyle Sugars! There is Organic Pure Cane sugar in the cupcake and delicious Organic Turbinado Raw Cane Sugar in the butter cream frosting! My son told me this was the best cupcake I've ever made and he loved the crunch of the frosting thanks to the pieces of cane sugar before I dipped them in crushed candy canes. It gave the butter cream a browned butter flavoring without the need to actually brown the butter.
