Key Ingredient’s Digital Recipe Reader Plus Strawberry and Cream Popcorn Recipe

Key Ingredient hosts the web’s largest shareable collection of over 1.5 million user-generated recipes. The Key Ingredient ecosystem gathers and syndicates recipes from across KeyIngredient.com to mobile apps and through Wi-Fi to the Key Ingredient Recipe Reader. We cook a lot of meals in my house. Most our dinners are cooked right here at home and most of those meals come from recipes. We don’t do well when it comes to creating food combinations on our own so we are really great at following a recipe. We have stacks of recipe books and stacks of printed out sheets of paper with recipes we printed on them. It is quite the disaster in our kitchen. That is until I received our digital recipe reader from Key Ingredient where we instantly fell in love! Here it is right out of the box.

It comes with a stand attached on the back so it is super easy to keep upright in the kitchen. This piece of technology is made for the kitchen! Sturdy and we have had plenty of sticky fingers all over this and it always wipes clean.

Create. Unlike other recipe sites and apps, all content on the Key Ingredient site is user-generated. Users start by inputting their favorite recipes directly into their account with the ?Add Recipe? feature. These recipes can be sorted into Cookbooks for easy access. Key Ingredient also provides a platform to preserve those cherished family recipes with the option to keep them private from other users.

 Collect. Key Ingredient is an interactive community of foodies. Members can graze each other’s collections on Keyingredient.com or via the Key Ingredient App for iOS or Android. Users can build their Cookbooks by browsing the homepage for inspiration from other members and by following members who have similar tastes. In addition, recipes from other sites are easily included in one’s own Key Ingredient collection in one simple click by installing the Key Ingredient Cookmark feature directly onto the web browser’s toolbar. Keyingredient.com provides an excellent tool to search for recipes based on food preferences, follower’s choices and even diet. Key Ingredient makes sharing simple and fun with links to popular social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Cook. The Key Ingredient Recipe Reader is the final piece of the pie! It lives in your kitchen, bringing all of the recipes from your account right to where you need them. Completely kitchen-safe and mess-proof, the sealed glass touch-screen of the Key Ingredient Recipe Reader can be easily wiped off with a damp cloth to remove kitchen grime. The Reader can be set up vertically or horizontally for easy viewing and includes three separate kitchen timers that can run simultaneously. A conversion calculator and ingredient substitution tool are available for dealing with precise measurements or researching alternate ingredients.

All you have to do is sign into your Key Ingredient account and browse all the amazing looking recipes. When you find ones that you like just click to add them to your recipe reader cookbook. Since the reader is wireless it loads automatically and you can instantly view the recipe right from your kitchen.

We needed to make a girly treat recently for a party so we decided to try the Strawberries & Cream Popcorn Recipe straight from the site.

Ingredients:

• cup corn kernels, popped on the stovetop
• 1 cup lite corn syrup
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1 3oz box strawberry jello
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 1 bag mini marshmallows
• 2 
  ounces butter
• 1 bag freeze dried strawberries, roughly crushed

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
2. Line two baking sheets with silicone mats.
3. Pour popped corn into an extra large heat-proof bowl, or two large bowls.
4. In a medium saucepan combine corn syrup, sugar, strawberry jello and
   butter until it comes to a rolling boil. Remove from heat and pour over
   popped corn. Stir popcorn until most is evenly covered with jello
   mixture.
5. Transfer popcorn evenly onto baking sheets.
6. In a medium saucepan melt marshmallows and butter and drizzle over popcorn.
7. Bake popcorn for 10 minutes rotating sheets half-way through. Remove
   popcorn from oven and immediately sprinkle crushed freeze dried
   strawberries over popcorn, stir to incorporate. Allow to cool break up
   into pieces and serve.

It seemed like a lot of big steps but Husband and I worked on this one together and since things were on the stove and we were working with hot stuff we made it when the girls were in bed.

Here it is with melted marshmallow goo just poured onto it and ready to cool before touching!

This was the finished product all broken up and put into a bowl and full of all its tastiness.

Of course it was extremely sticky but the kids and adults alike enjoyed it! Having the recipe reader on the kitchen counter made following the recipe easy. I also like that each recipe has nice color photos so I can see if mine turned out like it is suppose to!

I like that you can make comments on different recipes so that if you have a tip or variation you can share them to help others with their own cooking. I can always use all the help I can get!

I also use the timers on the reader almost every day. I like that I can have several going at once!

I could literally spend hours browsing
the many recipes on the website. It makes me want to become a better
chef for my family! Of course with two little ones at home I have to
stick to meals I know they are at least willing to try but honestly
