Today I have an announcement to make – I’m an official Arnold/Brownberry/Oroweat Bread-bassador! I could not be more excited about this awesome new adventure for a brand that we’ve shared quite often on this site; and which I’ve grown to love!
My goal this year was to be better – better about my health, better about my food choices and better at work. So far I’m better at work but I haven’t forgot about the others. I think this Bread-bassador thing came at just the right time to give me a little kick in the behind to get into gear. After all, September is Self-Improvement month, so what perfect timing!
But before we begin, I have got to share something with you. This lovely package below arrived on my doorstep late last week. It contained bread samples, coupons to buy more bread, reusable sandwich containers and my favorite – a cutting board personalized for “Outnumbered 3 to 1”! Can you see it down there? It’s quite awesome and I totally got giddy over such a thoughtful and personal gift!
So now that we have that all out of the way, let me tell you a little about what I will be doing the next couple of months. First of all, I will be sharing tips from Allison Sweeney, who I just happen to be a huge fan of! Yes, I was once caught up in the daytime drama that she stars in – and probably would still be if there were 36 instead of 24 hours in each day! Anyway, back on topic, I will be sharing one of Alison Sweeney’s Tips to Feed Your Better in each post that I write. So make sure to be on the lookout for more posts between now and December!
Tip #1 – Feel your best with better food. Find meals that go the distance, like a well-built sandwich. Sandwiches make it easy to get the nutritional benefits that will help you feel great. Try ArnoldBrownberryOroweat 100% Whole Wheat Bread topped with lean protein and veggies to help boost your performance during a workout.
Now that I’ve got you wondering what this whole “Feed Your Better” thing is, I’ll enlighten you and explain a little bit more. Arnold Bread and Allison Sweeney are inviting us to share our stories and goals for reaching a personal better through their Feed Your Better campaign between now and November 11, 2013. There is no right or wrong because we all have ways in which we can be better and they totally get that! There are $100,000 in prizes to be won and the lovely Allison Sweeney will be on the judging panel to select the finalists! Winners will be awarded the following amounts to help them achieve their personal goals:
- Three winners will win $20,000
- Runners-up will receive $5,000
- 100 Individuals will receive $100 through a sweepstakes
So start thinking about your goals and go enter the contest. Just promise to thank me for sharing this contest with you if you win – which I totally hope you do!
Now it’s time for me to talk about how I’m starting to Feed Your Better. 2 years ago, I lost a ton of weight – seriously a ton. I don’t believe in scales, but I did drop from a size 18 to a 12. Now I’m back up to a 14 so I am determined to lose all of those extra pounds that I’ve put on since losing all of that weight 2 years ago. I’m in the process of taking baby steps right now. Step one was taken yesterday by switching out my regular bread for Arnold’s 100% Whole Wheat bread. We had BLT’s for dinner and I have to say, it was quite delicious with the new bread! My little twist is to add a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. It gives it a delicious twist! I know bacon isn’t so good for you, but I did say I was taking baby steps!
I promise to try a sandwich option that really is better for me another time. Next time I will try Allison’s “The Better Sammie” and even share her recipe with you! I have some other great ideas too, one of which is Chicken Salad. I need to call my aunt for that recipe! So check back in about a week for that recipe from Allison Sweeney!
