Whether it’s your mom, sister, aunt or a friend – I’m sure Breast Cancer has touched someone you know. Statistics show that almost all of us know someone who has or had breast cancer. I don’t know about you, but I don’t very much like that statistic.
Sadly, it’s true though and I’ve known quite a few people that have and/or currently are fighting the battle against breast cancer. I’ve watched a family friend go through chemotherapy and lose all of her hair, then try to find wigs that looked natural enough so that she could continue her job as a waitress. I’ve taken her to doctor’s appointments and watched as she seemed to grow weaker and sicker due to the effects of treatment. I’ve watched her go into remission, later to find it had come back even worse. I hope that I will not be attending her funeral one day due to this disease
An estimated 234,580 men and women will be newly diagnosed with breast cancer in the US this year. That number seriously made me cringe. These are all of the reasons why I’d like to do what I can to help find a cure to put an end to Breast Cancer.
