Have you ever gone to the store for some wine to wind up completely overwhelmed by the choices availabe to you? It can’t be just me! Going to the store the other day this is what I encountered and there were multiple rows of the mass confusion! Well now there is indeed….an app for that.
The Thumbs Up Wine Finder app is
designed to do one thing and do it well: help the average wine shopper find a
great bottle of wine in a chain grocery or warehouse store. Here’s why we
launched: In 2011, there were over 150,000 new wine labels approved in this
country. If you go to the average grocery or warehouse store, you are typically
faced with hundreds of different wines to choose from. I’ve long thought that the
number one issue for the average consumer who buys wine at a grocery store is that
they are simply overwhelmed by the number of choices – I know that I often feel
that way. I believe this app goes a long way in helping the average retail
customer to be a little more comfortable when selecting a bottle of wine and it
specifically focuses on large grocery chains and warehouse stores like Costco.
We have thrown out more than one bottle of wine after we had one glass because it did not taste like what my taste buds were envisioning. Now I trust WineFinder’s reviews to let me know what I am getting into with a certain bottle of wine.
I personally tasted the Moscato
pictured below, as it was recommended and sent to me from Thumbs
Up WineFinder and it was AMAZING! Not gonna lie…the bottle did not
last but a few minutes between husband and I!
2011Villa Alena, Moscato d?Asti, Moscato: This is a sweet wine,
with honeyed-peach, round apple, and flowers. A brown sugar note adds
dimension, and the finish is clean and smooth.

I really like this app because it helps me to simplify something that is pretty overwhelming to me. I don’t know much about wine (other than it can be tasty) so I like that this app can help me understand the good ones a little better. I especially like that it gives food pairing suggestions…very nice! I won’t even have to overpay for wine again because the app tells me what price it should be at…double score! I only wish that the app allowed me to scan the UPC code of a random bottle I pick up off the shelf to see if they have reviewed it and if they think it is any good since I do trust their reviews!
Overall a great app to have to help the average person, such as myself, navigate the wine aisle. I won’t be going wine shopping without this app…EVER. Takes all the guess work out!
