Sonic Drive In has a big place in my heart. On our honeymoon almost five years ago, we went to a?practically secluded mountain town. Asides from an adorable little grocery store, they only restaurant within a 25 minute drive was a Sonic! It was the first place we lunched at as a married couple. Now, five years later, we just happen to live less than five minutes away from another Sonic and we now get to take our three year old there for a special treat!
Sonic Drive In is the undisputed winner when it comes to milkshakes (at least in my book!). They’ve introduced the Summer of Shakes, offering 25 new, exciting flavors to tantalize your taste buds and, to sweeten the deal, Sonic is offering each shake at half price after 8pm. All summer long!
Real, fresh milk and real cream go into making the Sonic shakes, so they’re thicker and richer than other ‘fast food’ restaurants. Our shakes were so thick, it was difficult to drink them with a straw straight away! Now that’s what I call a great shake!
With 25 different new flavors to try, it was difficult for everyone to make a choice. I decided to check out the Sonic website before we left and in fact,?I kept rattling off all the flavors as we drove to our closest location.
With daring flavors like Peanut Butter and Bacon or Peanut Butter and Jelly and decadent flavors like Coconut Cream Pie and Chocolate Covered Cherry, it wasn’t a surprise we sat at the call box for awhile debating.
Finally, I settled on the Cherry Cheesecake Flavor and after one sip, knew I had made the right choice. My milkshake was thick and creamy, with a sweet cherry flavor and a rich cheesecake undertone. Topped with decadent whipped cream and a cherry, it was the perfect sweet treat!
My little guy wanted a Peanut Butter and?Banana shake. I have to say, it smelled amazing, but, I wasn’t allowed to taste it. But how could you go wrong with that combination?
The Hubby went a little plain and got a Strawberry Banana milkshake. He said it had a nice, smooth, home made flavor to it, with a fresh fruit undertone.
Have I mentioned, there are 25 total flavors and that they’re all half priced after 8pm, when the sun’s gone down and the day is finally cooling off a bit?

The freshly brewed green tea can be sweetened with five new flavor mix-ins: Peach, Mango, Blackberry, Raspberry, and Mint. All mix-ins are sugar-free and sweetened with Splenda. I had planned on trying a few flavors, but, before I could stop myself on each visit, the words, “An Iced Green Tea with Mint please!” kept coming out. Now hear me out. If the other four flavors are half as good at the Mint Green Tea, then you’re in for a real yummy treat! The mint made the tea beyond refreshing and I found myself craving one days afterwards. The best part, the regular green tea is only 60 calories per serving and the diet has 0 calories per serving!
